France Interior Area Music [1982 - Present]
heard in the Impressions de France Theater and some shops
Working Playlist
01. La Vie en Rose
02. C'est Magnifique
03. Valentine
[...]
Duration: approx. 60.00
Notes: The France Interior Music plays in limited areas. The above short list is based on live recordings from inside the Impressions de France Theater between performances, i.e. load / unload, some from Dan Smith's recordings of the attraction. Typhoon Lagoon also provided a short live recording from inside the "Library Room" of [what shop?], which included "La Mer." I have also heard a version of "Cancan," different from what appears in the exterior area music.
The France Interior Music was, according to the Guest Services playlist, arranged by Bobby Hammick, a long time jazz musician and Disney composer. According to Disney historian Paul Anderson, Hammick also arranged the music for it's a small world for the New York World's Fair.
One of the first things I did when I started trying to sort out the World Showcase music was to begin listening to whatever versions I could find of the songs listed in the Guest Services playlists because I wanted to easily be able to identify tracks should recordings become available. The tunes associated with the France Interior Music are now easily some of my favorite songs, all from these phenomenal French artists, mostly from the 1930s, '40s, and '50s. One of the great things about this project, and collecting Disney music in general, has been the opportunity to be introduced to all kinds of music from around the world that I would otherwise perhaps never have encountered.
