Indiana Jones et le Temple du Peril (Temple of Doom) was a "rush job" by Disney to build a white knuckle ride as fast as possible in the recently opened park which, at that time, had only Big Thunder Mountain (the ride opened in July 1993) and, unusual for Disney, was a ready made ride (from Intamin, Switzerland. The original concept was for a far larger ride along the lines of those in the US parks. Space Mountain was not yet built.
Disney did, however, do a pretty good job in theming it to hide the supports etc and it really does look as flimsy as the long-disused trackway it emulates. The ride lasts only around 1:15 so is a pretty quick ride (in more ways than one). From 2000 - 2004, the cars was reversed and marketed as "Indiana Jones et le Temple du Peril - backwards". In 2004, the cars faced forwards once again.
The queuing line is long and winds it's way between groves of bamboo (now quite mature but a little feeble back in '93).
Along the way you pass base camp (Range Rover vehicle) and other interesting items/scenes to take your mind off the long journey to the temple itself (which is quite impressive).
The Ride sits in a "dead end" area of Adventureland next to a large "reserved" area (originally possibly reserved for Splash Mountain" which was cancelled due to lack of funds - a notable omission in Paris)
It is a sharp roller coaster ride (often called a mouse dipper after a famous version called the "Wild Mouse" which is a coaster with tight turns and sharp drops to accentuate the thrills on what is really a very small coaster - a version of which remains in the UK at Blackpool Pleasure Beach)with the sharp turns and drops, there is also a 360 degree inversion. Small as it is, it's an intense and popular ride.
A Music loop plays in the area.
All tracks are from the Motion Picture Soundtracks and can be purchased from Amazon.com as mp3's here (but see important note below).
If you want the actual CD's
Raiders of the Lost Ark here
Temple of Doom here
and The Last Crusade here
It should be noted that for authenticity the "original" soundtrack CDs have now been discontinued (although available as imports) and the links are to the "remastered" versions (2009)currently available.
If you want the identical (not the remastered) versions as used for the ride, it's a case of looking for copies etc of the original Motion Picture Soundtracks.
Full credit to wedroy1923 and needmagic for their work on this one.
All tracks have been checked to a live reference recording (2009)
