Sequoia Lodge

Posted by eyore , 17 June 2012 · 1,114 views

Sequoia Lodge is a middle range hotel recently refurbished and now showing a discreet Bambi theme.
It was designed by Antoine Grumbach, a French architect, to reflect the lodges in the American National Parks and is a wood-clad building and set amid trees (including Sequoias).
There is interior music and, for once, we stray from our "compared to a live recording" ideal. We have (up to now) been unable to obtain a full live recording from the Sequoia Lodge (mainly due to it not playing due to the refurbishments).
We are including it here for the sake of completeness (something is better than nothing).
We have been informed by DLRP that the hotel plays from the CD series Dan Gibson Solitudes - Forest Piano.
This comprises of piano music and nature sounds (birds, frogs).

We were able to catch one short recording which did identify one track from this album:
A Path to Solitude
so that one IS confirmed.
Please see comments below re verification of this. (thanks Lorum)
This makes the playlist as follows:

Total Time: 01:04:18

01. A Path to Solitude
02. Beauty Abounds
03. Moody Afternoon
04. Ancient Stand
05. Summer Sublime
06. Chasing the Clouds
07. Dreaming by the Stream
08. Hymn to the Old Growth
09. Streams of Hope
10. Natural Grace
11. A Peaceful Path

This was the CD named by DLRP as their source (no individual tracks named) so we are suspecting that, as with the Hotel Disneyland, it plays/played the entire CD and then repeats.
It's a high priority to get our live recording eventually but not the easiest place to record in (if they are playing it at all)!

Another loop plays in the bar area but we were only able to identify
Lip Service - Michael Franks - The Camera Never Lies.  Sorry.
We will make a real effort on this one, honest.

This music of "Dan Gibson Solitudes" is very beautiful ! Thanks for the infos !
Remember, we are working only on what DLRP told us. They gave no details of whether all the tracks play, the order they play in or if anything else is in the loop so use caution. It is a nice CD though.
Hi, i'm new here!, this site is amazing, a lot of thanks for the info!. I have searching for the Sequoia Lodge, since my first stay in 2009, and you have found it! thanks!. Where have you ask what is the music playing?, I thought to do, but maybe, in the reception didn't know this class of info. I have listened to the samples in the amazon page, and i can confirm that this is the music that plays in the lobby area, and in the first floor hallway to the rooms, at least in 2009. But, in the restaurants, specifically in "Beaver Creek Tabern", sometimes (only one time that i was doing breakfast here), play country music, but is a strange style of country, is vocal, but i can`t define them. Sorry for can`t help more:/ I found a video in youtube that shows, in the end, a little fragment of the music .

Sorry for my english, I'm from Spain :/
DLRP guest services gave the reply that they played and the reply they gave was Forest Piano (no other details).  The hotels usually don't know so you have to write in.
DLRP seem to have stopped replying to requests for play lists now so it's a case of taking a live recording and then identifying it at home. We still have to visit the restaurants in the hotels to find what plays in them so thank you for starting us off with your information.
One of us needs to stay at the lodge, I think.

I'm staying at the Sequia Lodge in September, and will be eating in the restaurants, so I will try and take a recording of some sort.
We are fairly sure that the lobby music will follow the CD (that's normal  for the hotels that play a CD - including the Hotel Disneyland. - no editing - that's based on an incomplete live recording).
The Beaver Creek sounds interesting.
Looks like we may have to start doing the hotel restaurants as well then!

Been meaning to report on my stay at the Sequia Lodge last month. "Forest Piano" is most certainly the correct cd. It was playing all over the hotel whilst I was there (and I took my cd along to make sure) and very loudly. Very noticable in the foyer and around the entrance in and outside. My room was in one of the blocks by the swimming pool, and on one evening at gone 11 oclock it was playing all around the outside area from every speaker. It must have confused the local bird life. The restaurant plays as reported some sort of country music. It was very like John Denver in style (though I stress it wasn't John Denver), but getting a recording was almost impossible. The noise of dinners drowned out most of the music, as the speakers seemed to be in the ceiling, and the only bit I could catch came from a speaker hidden in a breakfast bar. Something about one less pair of shoes to put out each morning.  Sorry I couldn't be of more help on this one.
Thank you for your confirmation. Disney official lists/reports are not always accurate so it's good to know that it's still playing (and it's a nice CD too).
Restaurants are always bad for recording - it's often a case of recognising the tunes and noting them down as they play. Those ceiling speakers are a real pest aren't they. Even shotgun mics don't help unless they play the music loudly enough. I had this trouble in the Hotel Disneyland. Fortunately the CD they have been playing for a while is a regular in our car and has been for years so I know every note be heart!!!!
One of us will have to stay at the Sequoia Lodge and have a meal one year.

I was in Séquoia Lodge the 19.10.2012 and absolutly no music was played around the hotel. Even in the Reception...
Yes, I have been a few times to the Hotel Disneyland and nothing was playing. The loop used to also play in the toilet in the rooms (there was even a volume control) - silent now. Whistle while you work in one thing..................................!
I'm sure it will come back unless they are working on a new one. The DH one did.
A friend of mine who is CM have just asked about this loop and he confirmed that the Forest Piano CD is the current loop. So the playlist is:

Total Time: 01:04:18

01. A Path to Solitude
02. Beauty Abounds
03. Moody Afternoon
04. Ancient Stand
05. Summer Sublime
06. Chasing the Clouds
07. Dreaming by the Stream
08. Hymn to the Old Growth
09. Streams of Hope
10. Natural Grace
11. A Peaceful Path

Hope this helps.
