http://www.magicmusic.net/index.php?app=blog&blogid=11&showentry=130

Composer Bruce Broughton, wrote, conducted, composed and mastered his original score for the Future World attraction, Spaceship Earth, in 2007.

It is located in Future World Central at EPCOT Center in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The attraction opened on October 1, 1982. It stars Dame Judy Dench, as the voice of our narrator thru the history of communication on this ride.

Bruce Broughton recorded a moving and touching type of score for this attraction.

The attraction consists of a slow moving vehicle, a “Time Machine”, which takes us back to the days of the ice age and the cave man.

The attraction is presented by Siemens.

The ride lasts about 20 minutes.

Throughout the ride, we see the various eras of communication and how it was born. From cave wall drawings to ancient egypt to even the renaissance period with Yohan Guttenberg, who invented the movable type printing press.

We then arrive at the present age and end the ride with a touch screen questionnaire and video, showcasing futuristic ideas happening now and soon that will ease our life and simplify our daily jobs.

A medley of Bruce Broughtons score, from this attraction, has been released. This attraction is located ONLY in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The attraction consists of about 20 tracks. I love the music from this attraction. It is very emotional and beautiful. Aside from the standard orchestral instruments and choir, Bruce Broughton used the following instruments for his score to this attraction. a duduk, krumhorn, lute, two recorders, panpipes, harpsichord, harmonium, irish harps, and a tambour. The music is all individual cues that transition into the next to make one long listening experience, about 20 minutes worth.

To this day, almost all of Bruce Broughtons original score from this timeless attraction has been released in a 1 track medley on the 2008 Walt Disney World Resort Official Album.

I have learned, that in order for Disney to consider releasing a CD of Bruce Broughtons original theme park music, I would have to find out the interest in this type of music and get at least 5,000 people who would purchase it. I know of several people, already, who would buy this music, myself included.

Who here has some fond memories of this show and do you have any favorite cues from the shows music? Feel free to share your thoughts, memories, etc... from this missed and retired attraction.

Composer Bruce Broughton, wrote, conducted, composed and mastered his original score for the Imagination Pavilion’s attraction, Honey, I Shrunk The Audience, in 1994.

It is located in Future World East at EPCOT Center in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The attraction opened on November 21, 1994. It stars Rick Moranis, as “Professor Wayzne Szalinski” and Eric Idle, as “Dr. Nigel Channing”. The attraction also co-stars Marcia Strassman as "Diane Szalinski" and Robert Oliveri as “Nick Szalinski”.

Bruce Broughton recorded an academy award show and mysterious/comedic type of score for this attraction.

For the queue loop, Richard Bellis did an arrangement of Bruce Broughtons Honey, I Shrunk The Audience Theme.

The attraction consists of a waiting area with an 11 minute film, showcasing photos of various occasions, presented by Kodak, entitled, “True Colors”, and a main theater, where we get to sit down, while we watch as the Inventor Of The Year award is given to Professor Wayne Szalinski at the Imagination Pavilion’ Open House.

But soon after the award show begins, chaos ensues.

The film lasts 14 minutes.

Throughout this show, we get shrunk, scared by a lion, almost eaten by a python, attacked by thousands of mice, picked up by Adam Szalinski, played by twins Daniel and Joshua Shalikar, and sneezed on by a dog.

This attraction is located in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, Anaheim, California, Tokyo, Japan, and Paris, France. The attraction consists of about 16 tracks. I love the music from this attraction. It is very entertaining and enjoyable. Bruce Broughton used the following instruments for his score to this attraction.

The score is the same at all these locations.

Ellen's Energy Adventure

http://www.magicmusic.net/index.php?app=blog&blogid=11&showentry=126

Bruce Broughton, whom you know by now, wrote the original score for the Universe of Energy Pavilion’s attraction, Ellen’s Energy Adventure in 1996.

It is located in Future World West at EPCOT Center in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The attraction opened on September 15, 1996. It stars Ellen DeGeneres and Bill Nye The Science Guy, as themselves. The attraction also co-stars Alex Trebek.

Bruce Broughton recorded a dark, melodic, and uplifting score for use in the waiting area, but the version we tend to hear is more peppy and rhythmic.

The attraction consisted of a waiting area with an 8 minute film, introducing the main characters, a second theater, where we are seated in a traveling theater car, while we watch Ellen and Bill Nye travel from the present, back to the age of the dinosaurs as well as witnessing the Big Bang and the birth of Planet Earth.

The film lasts 7 minutes.

The next room is a Diarama scene where we get to see various types of dinosaurs and an audio-animatronic of Ellen DeGeneres.

Finally, we enter a third theater, where we learn about the various types of energy, before returning to the second theater, again.

The types of Energy we learn about are: Solar Energy, Wind Power, Coal, Oil, Natural Gas and Fusion Power.

The main film lasts about 12 minutes.

The final room we travel to, happens to be the same room where our adventure began.

The finale film, final Jeopardy, lasts about 4 minutes.

The final Jeopardy answer is, “This is the one source of power, that will never, run out?” For those who have ridden this ride, already know the answer, but for those who have not, I will hide the answer, here:

	Spoiler

Brain Power

This attraction is ONLY located in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The attraction consists of about 25 tracks. ASCAPs website lists several of the cue names used in the attraction. Though, some are not listed. I love the music from this attraction. It is very entertaining and beautiful. I could listen to it all day long, if I had it. Bruce Broughton used a full orchestra for his score to this attraction. He did 25 tracks, totaling about 30 minutes of music, in all. Much of the score is high energy.

Bruce Broughtons fondest memory of the recording sessions for this attraction are an english musician trying to play the banjo part for the beverly hillbillies theme during the oil scene in the film.

To this day, only 1 track of Bruce Broughtons original score from this beloved attraction, has been released.

Timekeeper

http://www.magicmusic.net/index.php?app=blog&blogid=11&showentry=124

Bruce Broughton, who originally wanted to be an animator, wrote, conducted, composed and mastered his original score for "The Timekeeper" in 1994.

It was located in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The attraction opened on November 21, 1994. It starred Robin Williams as the voice of "Timekeeper" and Rhea Perlman as the voice of "9-Eye". The film also co-starred Jeremy Irons as, “H.G. Wells” and Michel Piccoli as, “Jules Verne”.

The music for this attraction was recorded one cue at a time. Bruce Broughton recorded a dark, but not melodic, prologue for use in the queue, but the version we heard was created by someone else.

The attraction consisted of a queue with a short safety video starring 9-eye and a main show where timekeeper guides 9-eye back in time and later, in to the future. The main film lasted about 17 minutes.

The attraction closed on February 26, 2006.

There was to be a medley released of Bruce Broughtons score from this attraction, but was replaced by the Pre-Show Fill cue from Ellen's Energy Adventure, also scored by Bruce Broughton. But that will be a later Blog entry.

There were two versions of the show, the original, located in Paris, France and the American version, located in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The two attractions contained different scores. ASCAPs website lists several of the cue names used in the France version of the film.

This attraction is severely missed and revered. I love the music from this attraction and the puns by Robin Williams.

Le Visionarium or From Time To Time, is the Original, France Theme Parks name for the show. This version starred Michel Leeb as the voice of “Timekeeper” and Myriam Boyer as the voice of “9-Eye”. It also co-starred Gerard Depardieu as a “Paris Airport Employee” and Franco Nero as “Leonardo da Vinci”. This attraction opened on April 12, 1992, the score was recorded the same year. The music is different than the Florida version. The France attraction closed on September 5, 2004. The film also contained a couple different scenes, “Red Square” and “Charles De Gaulle Airport”, the American version omitted these scenes.

This version of the show also played at Tokyo Disneyland in Japan. It starred George Tokoro as the voice of “Timekeeper” and Yuki Saito as the voice of “9-Eye”. That attraction opened on April 15, 1993 and closed on September 1, 2002. The film itself was filmed in 1990.

There was to be a version of the show at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, but due to financial issues, Eisner had it scrapped, along with the whole Tomorrowland 2055 idea. The France and japan Attraction had a rotating globe, while Florida just had a banner and LED sign.

To this day, none of Bruce Broughtons original score from this beloved attraction, has been released. Only a short sample, from the France version of the show, is available.

I have learned, that in order for Disney to consider releasing a CD of Bruce Broughtons original theme park music, I would have to find out the interest in this type of music and get at least 5,000 people who would purchase it.
