It's in stores and available through online retailers starting Aug. 17. A special vinyl edition will be released Aug. 24.

Listeners can expect the classics "Rhapsody in Blue," "I Got Rhythm" and "Summertime," plus two "new" songs — "The Like in I Love You" and "Nothing But Love" — with Wilson music blended with never-before-published music by Gershwin. Did Wilson write new lyrics? A spokesperson told Playbill.com, "Brian worked/collaborated with two of his longtime band members on lyrics (Scott Bennett) and the orchestral arrangements (Paul Von Mertens)."

Wilson said in a statement, "Along with Irving Berlin, Gershwin basically invented the popular song, but he did something more. He had a gift for melody that nobody has ever equaled, yet his music is timeless and always accessible. This is the most spiritual project I've ever worked on."

The disc is produced by Wilson, mixed by multi-Grammy winner Al Schmitt and features Wilson's band. The album, according to the label, "features the trademark stacked vocal harmonies and orchestrations that made Wilson a towering and revered figure in popular music."

An a capella version of the groundbreaking 1924 orchestral piece "Rhapsody in Blue," showcasing Wilson's vocal harmonies, opens and closes the album.

"The Like in I Love You" is based on "Will You Remember Me?," a song Gershwin composed in 1924 for the musical Lady, Be Good!, which never made it into the show. "Nothing But Love" is based on "Say My Say," a 1929 song fragment the Gershwin brothers (composer George and lyricist brother Ira) never fully completed.

According to label notes, in 2009, "Warner/Chappell Music and the Gershwin estates made available to Wilson more than 100 piano demos of unfinished or obscure songs and melodies left by George Gershwin at his death in 1937. Wilson narrowed these fragments down to two favorites, then created new music blending both the Wilson and Gershwin styles."

The following is a complete track listing for "Brian Wilson Reimagines Gershwin":

Rhapsody in Blue (Intro)

The Like in I Love You

Summertime

I Loves You, Porgy

I Got Plenty o' Nuttin

It Ain't Necessarily So

'S Wonderful

They Can't Take That Away from Me

Love Is Here to Stay

I've Got a Crush on You

I Got Rhythm

Someone to Watch Over Me

Nothing But Love

Rhapsody in Blue (Reprise)

Wilson, a Southern California native, along with his brothers, a cousin and a friend, formed the Beach Boys while still in his teens. With Wilson as chief songwriter and arranger, the band enjoyed dozens of hits, including "I Get Around," "Help Me, Rhonda," "California Girls," "Wouldn't It Be Nice," and the No. 1 smash "Good Vibrations."

What WDW Peoplemover Pre-1992 Tracks Are These?

HI all,

I've been trying to find these two tracks for a long time. These samples were taken from a 1991 ridethru on the WDW Wedway peoplemover in 1991(thanks widenyourworld!) . The first track played between Source Queues F and G. And the second one played right before the Monorail song. If anyone could please tell me their names and where I could possibly find them, I'd be very grateful! I've been wanted to add them to my peoplemover loop for years!

Many Thanks,

Summer Nightastic Extended Theme

At the beginning of the summer, I spent some time analyzing the differences in the "Summer Nightastic" theme song as used by DL and WDW, including a breakdown of the lyrics. Anyway, last week WDW posted an extended version of the Summer Nightastic theme on their official site, complete with key change and an entire second verse.
Epcot Odyssey Restaurant BGM - 1982-1996

Hi All! My username is Raphdude (Real name-Eric). I'm a noob to this forum but I am a long time Disney fan, especially of Disney Theme Park Music. I spent every Xmas week and Memorial Day Weekend at WDW from 1971 until 1996, and have had many WDW BGM loops engrained in my memory since then. I stayed at the Contemporary Resort each time and I am compiling a loop list of background music that was used in the Contemporary throughout the 70's until at least the early 80's and I will be posting it here soon, with albums and track listings.

I have a request to ask. I'm looking to find a copy of an audio music loop track that was played in the former Odyssey restaurant from Epcot's opening until at least 1996. I finally visited Epcot for the first time since 1996 in March of this year and the loop was no longer playing in the building (in the restrooms anyway) It was about a 40-70 minute instrumental smooth jazz loop and played in the Odyssey restaurant building throughout the day except for the brief character shows with the Fab Five in their silver spacesuits (with the Clap Your Hands El Debarge type song) , and was most likely produced in the late 70's- early 80's. It was by no means an elevator music loop, as it had really nice harmonica solos and sounded more like a smooth jazz loop. You may remember it yourselves. A couple of the tunes almost sounded similar to the style of the instrumental BGM Imagination Pavillion Loop music of Magic Journeys that would play in the restrooms at the far right of the Imagination pavillion(not the fountain loop). The Odyssey loop had the following songs(and a few others not listed):

Yesterday(Beatles)
Here Comes the Sun (Beatles)
Here, There and Everywhere (Beatles)
What a Fool Believes (Doobie Bros)
What are you Doing for the Rest of Your Life
The Shadow of Your Smile
Midnight at the Oasis
Wave (Sergio Mendes)
Just Once (Quincy Jones)

I have had this loop engrained in my head from hearing it while eating cheeseburgers and fries numerous times at the Odyssey and whenever I would walk through the building. I have been trying to find it for years by googling, amazoning, and ituning, and binsearching all of the song titles but no success. Is there anyone that might have this loop or would know if it is indeed an album or a CD? I really appreciate all of the info I've found here and some of the tracks that members have uploaded links to.

Many Thanks,

MK Christmas BGM - Jolly Old St. Nicholas?

For the last couple of years, I have been on a quest to find a BGM that I think currently plays on either Main Street or the Entrance Area. The BGM has the song "Jolly Old St. Nicholas" in it and--both my wife and I think--it has spoken words to the song in it. I realize that most/many BGMs don't have words in them, and I have managed to acquire the Main Street loop (or what is supposedly it; there seems to be some confusion as to whether the same loop that plays at DLR or DLRP plays at WDW or not. In any case, I don't go enough at Christmas to know the difference, so it's fine by me) and it's definitely not in that loop. The version of the song (Jolly Old St. Nicholas) that we believe plays in the particular loop we're looking for is the same as one that's on the CD "Disney's Christmas Magic" (see: http://cgi.ebay.com/DISNEY-CHRISTMAS-MAGIC-CD-2003-NEW-AND-SEALED-/390129833860?pt=UK_CDsDVDs_CDs_CDs_GL ).

Any idea if this song is actually in a BGM, or are our memories deceiving us? Is it possible that the song is played in a loop only during MVMCP? I would really like to find this particular BGM (if it, in fact, does exist) as it's the one we actually remember hearing played while we've closed down the parks.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends

So this is a complete long shot, but has anyone ever tried to determine the playlist of songs used before the Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends show started?

I have four ALD recordings of the show which includes, in various stages of a full recording, four different songs. In addition, once the show starts, but prior to the start of the main show, two songs used from the Pocahontas OST were heard, Steady as the Beating Drum and The Warriors Arrive. However, these two were not used all of the time, as I have two recordings where one of the four songs is used in this segment of the show.

The four songs sound like they are from the same artist, but I've never had any success in identifying these (they remind me of the Conservation Station BGM tracks). In fact, I hung around after one of the shows and spoke to the sound guy until the next show started. He was kind enough to play a few selections for me, but he didn't have any specific information other than to say there were two loops to choose from and the technician had the ability to choose which one he or she wanted to play.

If anyone remembers when Pocahontas closed, you'll see how far behind I am in my projects.

On the day of the 55th Anniversary, there was a special "moment" (referred to by some as a flash mob) that took place at 4:15 in town square. It mainly involved a whole bunch of characters and Cast Members performing some choreography to music.
The music was a version of A Dream is a Wish Your Heart makes, one I've not heard before. I own most of the Disney dance/remix CDs from the US and Japan, and I had been looking for a version of this song. I pulled out my iPhone and caught the end of it:

Yo Ho - What's This Version From?

I'm posting a link to a short clip of a vocal version of Yo-Ho, a pirate's life for me.
I have this from my video of the Dumbo ride in DLRP from June 1992 (6 weeks after the park opened). At this time, the loop for the ride consisted of general Disney music rather than the circus music used now. It's not imagination (regardless of how bizzare it seems).
I have no idea how long they used this loop before the "proper" loop was used, only that on that day, this was playing.
I think, within the next year, the correct loop was in use.
This loop may have been used for days/weeks/months - I have no way of knowing - but finding where this version comes from may help to find what loop was playing and whether it was a borrowed one from elsewhere etc.
There's also a few seconds of the following track. If anyone can ID that it would be great help.
Thanks.

Pinocchio Village Haus Track

You guys were extremely helpful in identifying the Out Of Africa track from The Land/GMR, so I thought I'd ask about one of my favorite tracks from the Pinocchio Village Haus loop.

It starts off like one of the typical, festive, instrumental, Bavarian-sounding tracks, but then it gets even more charming when some children's voices enter the track and sing a very catchy melody. It sounds like they are singing in German. I believe this is the only track on this loop in which I've heard vocals, so this will hopefully be helpful to anyone familiar with the loop - it would be a lot harder to describe and pinpoint the instrumental tracks since there's a lot more!

If anyone can identify this Village Haus track, and/or knows if it is available on CD, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks,
David

PS. I think my three favorite music loops in all of WDW are (in no particular order) Pinocchio Village Haus, Cinderella's Golden Carousel, and Main Street Christmas Loop - especially the unbelievably sublime "Ihr Kinderlein Kommet" - found at the 2:15 mark in the following clip

Would anyone happen to have a full playlist for the BGM that plays in the main entrance plaza of California Adventure?

I've heard mostly Beach Boys music, but I know there must be more to the loop.

Thanks!

Reflections of Earth Pre-Show Music

I thought it would be interesting to see sentiments of the pre-show music for IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. I'm particularly fond of the 2000-2004 loop, though the current loop suits the purpose fine.

Epcot Innoventions Loop at DL

So I've long remembered hearing what I now know is Epcot's Innoventions music loop at Disneyland's Innoventions. It was some years ago, before I knew the loop as the Epcot Innoventions loop, and I'd since taken to doubting I'd actually heard it. The only confirmed instance of that music playing at Disneyland was during a Tomorrowland-themed exhibit at The Disney Gallery (which was a long reedited version of the 50-minute full loop).

But low-and-behold, the music has returned! It's playing, somewhat randomly, on the second floor of Innoventions in the area of a Honda CR-Z exhibit. I hung around for the loop restart and I can confirm it's the standard 19:47 short version, though with a much longer restart gap. Really quite odd to hear it playing here, since I haven't heard it play here in some time, and it really doesn't gel much with Innoventions as it exists now (even at Epcot I don't think the music actually plays in Innoventions, even though we call the loop the Innoventions Area Loop).

Still, a wonderful surprise to hear this loop once again playing on the west coast. Certainly makes me curious as to how the loop made it over here in the first place and who decided to have it playing once again.
