So what happened on September 8? Nothing. It appears the dog ate David's homework David didn't know that he was supposed to file settlement conference papers because he forgot to let the court know that he had been evicted from his previous address back in May.

Magistrate Judge Robert N. Block reschedules the Settlement Conference for September 22, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. in Courtroom 6D of the Ronald Reagan Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse, in Santa Ana, CA, filed on September 3, 2010:

Considering the number of things that were raised in the original documents, it seems rather odd that an agreement was reached by mutual consent.
Maybe they just gave him a slap on the wrist and a "don't do it again" warning?
I take it this will be an "out of court" settlement where the details are confidential.
Any wagers as to when he starts up again (based on past records)?
Maybe this was Disney just re-enforcing their copyrights etc.
I think I am right in saying that they have to be seen to do this to retain the rights.
I'm still of the opinion that he knows something we don't and that's why he keeps getting away with it ;)

It does look that way... but I'm betting Disney came to the realization that you can't squeeze blood from a turnip... and was looking at saving on attorneys fees and court costs.

He'd be a fool if he did. He just signed his name to a document stating that "Plaintiffs are entitled to, and shall recover from Defendant on Plaintiffs' Complaint for Defendant's infringement, the sum of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00)" should he be found in violation of the Consent Decree.

I received an email from David Oneal's new venture a few weeks ago and thought I'd share. He describes to his fans what has happened to the Extinct Attractions Club. It's quite a spin:

Quote

тнємєραякѕ360.¢σм

Someone asked me, what happened to Extinct Attractions Here is the deal,

I started the club since I missed Adventure thru Inner Space. I started with a documentary on America Sings in late 1997. I used that VHS documentary to gain other footage from early chat board sites, since I wanted to document the story of not just Disneyland in general, my goal was to document the actual rides, the little nuances that made Disneyland awesome.

There were (and still are) much better sources for the history of Disneyland. My goal was to document the attractions. Since I have been a video editor and producer since 1992. I had the gear, and know how to make what I considered to be pretty good documentaries on these past attractions.

I never started out wanting a profit. At the start I made 6 videos. All on VHS. Each tape cost me money, each envelope to ship it cost me money, each copy I made cost me money, I even rented time in studios, and edit rooms to produce them. I did it because I love Disneyland.

I was working on the show "Friends" at the time I started, I did not need the money at all.

I only charged for the cost of the videos. I even created a People mover documentary in 1999 that I never sold until 2003 since I did not have the time to dedicate to selling them.

It was always for fun.

Once I started to be introduced to the Disney legends like Bob Gurr, X Atencio, Thurl Ravenscroft., and others, the videos gained more and more followers. At that time DVD was very new, and very costly. The initial set up cost me over 10k of my own money.

I scrapped all the old videos I did, and began to shoot almost every weekend with the Disney legends, and worked with professional voice over artists and camera people to produce these.

I loved shooting, writing, editing, and interviewing all the people who worked side by side with Walt Disney. I was invited to the studio, I worked at Disney for a time. It was wonderful. It was never about a profit. It was always about the love of the parks.

Here is the thing to know, the entire time I did the videos, I was working full time as a video editor. Sometimes 6-7 days a week. 12 hour shifts, and I tried my very best to ship orders, get help making copies, Hell just answering email everyday from 50,000 members was crazy, plus we did a free podcast, held special events.

In short I did what I could to tell the story of Disneyland with what I had.

Was it the best? No. the worst? No. It was what I could do with what I had.

I even had John Stamos and Neil Patrick Harris at Disneyland shooting with me before the park opened.

Roy Disney helped us himself to do many things.

I hope for the people who enjoyed what I did that they liked it. I stood for the love of the park. I could have done many things another way, but for what I did it was what I could do with what I knew and had the resources for.

You can still hear us every Wednesday night, we still make videos, we still love the parks.

But now, people have you tube, iPhones, and fast internet connections, and there are hundreds of sites that tell the Disneyland story better than I ever did.

For that I'm thankful to be a pioneer in creating a community of Disney fans who love the park and love to share their memories.

So what Happened to Extinct Attractions? The same thing with everything in life, we evolved into much more than we could have ever been on our own. Thousands of podcasts, web sites, and fan made videos flood the web now. I could not be happier.

And me? I'm still a video producer and editor going into my 20th year in entertainment.

Last year after Extinct Attractions, I became the host of a tech show on national cable, I did TV show in Abu Dhabi on Ferrari World with Bob Gurr, travled all over europe doing TV shows for American cable TV, and I continue to document past theme parks.

The best part now, is that there is no shipping, no waiting, we make content and its freely available all over the web.

I thank each and every person who helped with and continue to help extinct attractions share the story of the parks.

I'm more than happy to talk anytime, I just ask that you read the facts, I see lots of stuff around the web that has no basis in reality. I'm the source, I have the pictures, video, and documentation on everything we ever did. I'm proud to be among those who love Walt.

Exactly.

I've been receiving emails from his new venture where he's mostly selling instruction manuals he's written about how to use your tech products and apps.

Still showing his POC documentary I see. I presume the music is still Disney's?
Some people never learn. Maybe he's hoping that giving it out free will make a difference - Duh!
