I just picked up the 3 complete scores for the Lord of the Rings movies (which I haven't seen yet). I've been purchasing more soundtracks lately, but I doubt I'll ever get to the level of thx99 or Dr. Know.

Movie soundtracks are also something I enjoy. Pirates of the Caribbean is arguably my favorite score, both the Klaus Badelt and Hans Zimmer scores. The Big Chill soundtrack is also a favorite as I've grown to enjoy Motown. Another favorite of mine is show tunes. I guess I do have a life outside of Disney!

I also listen to a lot of CD's called "Soundscapes" and a XM Radio station called "Watercolors." The closest genre I can think of for this is World music. I guess that is why I love the AKL loop music and the Poly loop music so much. Reminds me of this kind of stuff.
Now, I am a child of the 80's, so I do listen to a lot of that suff too, but don't hate me for it!
I listen to a lot of different things though. My sister loves country, my dad loves country and bluegrass, my mom loves easy listening type stuff and top 40. My husband loves classical and Praise and Worship stuff. I have had a lot of influences in my life that make my like several types of music. My CD collection looks like a music store. I even have some Opera (from my music major days in college) as well as some heavy metal (from my ex-boyfriend in the 80's influence). I love the Beatles and Elvis Presley, but I also love Dave Koz and Louis Armstrong. I even have a set of 4 CD's with Swing Bands. I don't think I can fit myself into one category. I just love music! I don't think I could live without it, especially Disney stuff!

Angie: I have the Indiana Jones set on my list as well, but was holding off since it wasn't the complete score. How do you like it?

I am loving a good mix of various styles and types of music as well - from movie scores to country, pop, jazz ... if you are interested you can get a better overview over the mix at my last.fm profile at http://www.last.fm/user/stagestar
Before I forget it: The Indiana Jones soundtrack box mentioned before is - IMHO - a mixed back. Certainly the "Raiders' March" aka the infamous Indy theme is a classic, but a lot of the remainder of the score for the four movies by John Williams is very specific underscore. While effective in the movie and certainly of interest to fans of the movie as well as fans of John Williams there is less instant memorable material there. However, considering how long we had to wait for an official release of the scores on CD (in particular the first two movies) it certainly is an interesting addition to any score collection. Just don't expect to play all four regular scores and the bonus on constant repeat. Speaking of the bonus disk: there is just a couple of previously unreleased tracks on this one, instead the interview takes up the major part of it.

Being rather ancient now, I was involved with the "folk revival" in the 60's so my main love was traditional folk. Living in the same city as the Beatles (and just around the corner from one of them) I moved into a more pop-based sound as well. I went into hibernation (coma?) for the sounds of the 80's and 90's although I struck a balance with Gordon Lightfoot and Steeleye Span.
Since becoming involved in tracking down loop music (and consequently listening to hours and hours of clips on iTunes and Amazon), I'm really enjoying the music from the movies now. My collection has grown considerably over the last few years although I am prone to say "did you know, Disney uses that in the loop for......".
I should day that I already had the Lord of the Rings CDs before I found Disney uses one of the tracks in one of the DLRP studios loops.
I do often wonder what people think though when I drive past and they hear the BTMRR queue music belting out from it.
Sad, I suppose.

Bought the full set the first day they came out
I agree, incredible scores. I also bought the new copies of LOTR and the Hobbit with illustrations by Alan Lee.

Thank you, I enjoyed that.
May come as no surprise but the Ukulele is amongst the instruments I play (learned after watching Poncie Ponce on Hawaiian Eye). Maybe I shouldn't have admitted to that......
