Jay,  Thanks so much for your hard work!    I knew I had heard some of those songs before.  You are probably right about the Downtown Disney stuff, but it is the other songs that interested me most.  I wish I could have been there this past week. I would have went cruising with you on the boat. My trip got cancelled. Otherwise, I may have been on the boat myself anyway.  My mother-in-law comes in for a visit tomorrow, so I may not be able to get the songs just now, but plan to buy some after she leaves, through Magic Music, of course.   I am swamped now getting things ready and just needed a small Disney break! Thanks again!

From my 2009 visit, I remember that Riverside had a different music loop than French Quarter, with slow Bluegrass-type music on the boat... I take it that has changed, then...?

Thanks, everyone, for the research on this. We just returned from a week long stay at Riverside Alligator Bayou and this was on the top of my list for the group. I noticed, as have others, there's not much in terms of standard play (it varied each time).

UPDATE:

Sorry for the delay in responding... but thanks to the INCREDIBLE help of Jay and Horizons, I was able to give my wife a gift that she just LOVES! I have yet to get in the car with her and it isn't in the cd player. She has listened to it so much that she not only has it memorized, but she has been hearing other versions of the songs I put on there in other movies and squeals with excitement, "That's (insert song title)!" I've stopped counting the number of times I catch her humming one of the songs... always with a smile on her face.

We both now have some great memories that we can relive on a regular basis thanks to this site.

Why is it that whenever I'm thinking of popping along here to ask a quick question, I find a thread covering the exact (and usually obscure!) topic that I'm interested in?

I've finally managed to log back into my account (boy, that case-sensitive captcha is a toughie!!!) to say thank you to Jay for all his hard work on this boat music, and also for the other Port Orleans track listings on this site. I've already thanked you via my Port Orleans website, Jay, but please accept my thanks here too.

The bluesy guitar-based music from the boats always sounds more Riversidey to me (OK, I guess more Dixie Landings) while the rest of the land-based music seems to fit the French Quarter theme a little better. I was going to upload an MP3 of a boat track I was trying to track down, but I'm guessing it's one of the ones above so I'm going to try to check those out first.

Oh, and thank you to "Harry" who was working at Boatwrights back in February for your pointer back over here. Since I'd managed to mislay my login details I'd not been back here very often, and your reminder was most welcome.

Nope, don't think this is from any of the tracks listed (although I could be wrong). I recorded about 90 seconds or so on one boat trip, just pulling into the Riverside dock on 24 August 2009. Not sure if it's any help, but here's the live clip as an MP3: LINK

Your clip is of Going Down the Road Feeling Bad, by Etta Baker, and is already listed in Post #16 in this topic.

When I get some more free time, I will try to ride the boat some more, and see if I can't grab a couple/few more tracks. As I mentioned earlier, it's really tough, as once the boat is in motion, you can't hear a darn thing.

Out of interest, several of the tracks mentioned in the Port Orleans section of the ferry list also appear on the collection CD Compact Jazz: Best of Dixieland, so maybe Disney got them from there (and maybe others too?). Hope this helps in any further research.

Yayyyyyy my favorite posts - ones about PO:FQ and the like!

You're missing TWO unidentified Jazz tracks I picked up back in January. The first is "Harmonica Stomp" by Bill Gillum, and the second is "Clementine" by Eddie Lang. Not sure where they fit in, but I definitely tagged those on the boat when I was there in January.

On a side and semi-unrelated note. I tagged the Port Orleans bus loop last time I was down there (January). I know for a fact that it plays the whole album of "The Guitar and Banjo of Reverend Gary Davis," but there were maybe two-three tracks I wasn't able to pick up. I think I MAY have tagged Harmonica Stomp on the bus as well. Hopefully this helps or somebody can confirm these.

How long were you on the bus?

I should probably go back and make sure none of the resort music has changed. I'll let Jay handle the transportation music.

Well we took many bus rides this last trip because the Mrs. had an infected tooth, so we had to keep going back to the room the first few days so she could lay down for awhile. Everytime we were on I'd bust out the phone and tag and I think I got everything because after awhile they started repeating. It was nice how they added the cricket chirping to it.
