Hello everyone. Does anyone know if DL Paris will release a CD of the music from the 20th anniversary parade and fireworks ("disney dreams")?

Don't know about a general park CD but "Disney Magic on Parade" is on CD (or should have been last month although there was a hold up on supplies). Not heard anything about a general CD though.

Oh, I highly recommend the new book Disneyland Paris: 20 Years of Dreams. Excellent book although a little expensive.
Needmagic has just returned from the park so if there is a CD, he'll know. I'll ask.

I asked needmagic and there were none in the stores there last week. Whether sold out or still awaited I don't know. DLRP are rubbish getting their stuff out on time!

So, thanks to @InsideDLParis on Twitter, we know the playlist of the just-released 20th anniversary album for DLP. Here it is:

As you can see, it has a total of two (recycled) tracks that are not from shows or parades... Hugely disappointing considering the wealth of area and attraction music that has yet to be released. When are we actually going to get a decent park album?

You'll note, no Dreams.
Decent park album? No chance. Releasing stuff so late in the year when the crowds are going down shows what they think, I suggest.
The very first was a great album. Since then retrospective stuff which most purchasers won't know anything about.
Nice pop-up included though. As usual, I was at the park early August so, once again, missed a release. Written to mail order to see if I can get a copy. 19.99 Euro.

Yeah, well, personally I'll probably skip this release. I feel that I have enough Entertainment music to last me a while so I'll save that money to buy source albums for area music and worthwhile releases from other parks...

I'll probably get it just to add to the collection. Speaking of which  have spent the last 2 days searching for the copy of Magic Everywhere I bought a couple of weeks ago at the park. I have no idea what I did with it (I know it arrived home as it was packed in the middle of my clothes for safety). I'm running out of places to look now!

Imagine the scene ... the producer discussing the CD with the sleeve designers.  "OK we've recycled the contents again and failed to include any of the new attractions that we've spent millions on.  I mean who wants the Dreams soundtrack?  So can you hide the fact weve 'goofed' by doing something different with the sleeve?"

I know what I would of preferred and it wasn't a pop-up CD sleeve.   This was an ideal opportunity to create something special that covered the twenty years.  Imagine a box set that included shows and attraction soundtracks in a timeline sequence.  

Its a real shame they've changed the strategy from specialist shops in the park to every store stocking the same merchandise.  It won't be long until a subway or macdonalds opens on Main Street (god forbid).

In the past, the CDs have included an 'exclusive' motif which i can't see on the image from the other site. Perhaps they plan to release for download like the other DLP CD?  

Any idea what Moon is?

Agreed on all counts. I also think the album is terribly misnamed. That's definitely not "the Best" of DLP.

"Moon" is from the Rock Shock show that played in Videopolis in 1992.

Dear God, that's really scraping the bottom of the barrel!  Even I don't remember that!
Nice to see Claque des Doigts even though the Winnie the Pooh show ended a while back.
Best of? I don't think so either.
En scene sil vous plait would have been nice there but very little there to take home as a reminder of a visit as virtually nothing plays there now. Maybe it should have been called "You missed all of these at Disneyland Paris if this is your first visit"
Can we sue under the trade descriptions act?

I still hope we'll eventually get a Randy Thornton-style official album for DLP. In the meantime I'm really glad to have your blog to buy some of the needledrop material which does a far better job of bringing back memories of my visits (or work).

Wouldn't it be great if DLP read all the posts and realised that there is actually a market for an anthology (Randy Thornton) style box set - instead we get Duffy Bear and a recycled CD!

I wrote to the mail order department and, interestingly, this is what they called the new CD -
20th anniversary  album CD vintage collection
and not "the best of".

That explains it.

Having listened to it, I've changed my mind, it's a good CD. That doesn't excuse them for not doing a decent general park CD for the 20th though. I think their title expresses it better - "vintage collection" and certainly not the best of what's in/been in the park. Maybe it lost something in translation!
I do still think it odd though to release a CD consisting mostly of past audio which would really only be of interest to past guests who would recognise them. How annoying to hear stuff you missed! A general release for those (like us) who value what's gone before maybe but not for a souvenir of your first visit as a park exclusive.

For me it's not so much the fact that there's "vintage" material on the disk... I'd quite welcome the original Space Mountain or Visionarium scores for example. But there's an unjustified bias towards characters, parades and shows at Disneyland Paris that spans from marketing to these CD releases. This is especially strange seeing how much they've cut back on shows in recent years; those Entertainment offerings can't make up more than 10% of your time at the parks these days!

Just a short comment concerning the CD title used by the mail order department - "20th anniversary album CD vintage collection". While the content (music from past entertainment offerings) could be assumed to be the reasoning for the "vintage" reference in the CD title I currently assume that the words "vintage collection" is referring to the merchandise group / range the CD is assgined to based on the design of the sleeve / the cover picture.

The range of merchandise products for the 20th anniversary featuring the drawing of the Disneyland Park as also used for the CD sleeve's front cover has been labeled "the vintage collection" to set it apart from the merchandise collection featuring the modern "20" logo. Other products of the Vintage Collection include e.g. cups, a set of four plates, stationary products etc. The more modern merchandise collection with the "20" logo in general seem to consists of more "plastic" products.

On another note: the whole CD seems to be like a "The best entertainment theme songs of DLP" album - but then DLP through the years mostly released entertainment music only. At least there are two surprising tracks on the CD with "Moon" & "Moon (reprise)". However, I am surprised to see that they also included the instrumental version of "Magic Everywhere" as well. If it is (as I assume) the same version as already included on the maxi / single CD its inclusion on this CD basically takes away all reason for a regular guest to buy this CD and the maxi CD - not very clever from a business point of view.

At least the collector is given one new song from the 20th anniversary offerings with this CD previously not available for purchase (if I am not mistaken): "Do You Believe" from the latest incarnation of the character train. However, there would have been more DLP specific music from entertainment offerings which has not been released in the past and that could have been included - for example one of the prior songs used for the character train (as it featured a song from TDL newly recorded with adjusted lyrics).

Finally a question concerning the two attraction songs strangely included in the CD: which versions have they included? Did they use the versions as used in past shows?

I suppose it's a question of what one collects. As someone who brings home a selection of plastic bags, till receipts as well as the park tickets and other general rubbish, I'd still add it to my collection - even though it's duplicated. In that aspect, it's a decent selection in my opinion. As a souvenir of the park, it's tripe.
I have been stung twice when they re-issued the same thing with a different cover though. Still, helps with the collection, I suppose.
AS far as the 20th stuff is concerned, I was most disappointed at the souvenirs they had - especially the lack of a 20th pin tray in every store I visited - they only had the "Paris" one.

I think it is also a question what purpose the CD release was supposed to have. I don't think they wanted to create a real "Official Album" in the meaning of the according CDs released by Randy for the US resorts (and as TDR does for its parks). Instead the current release IMHO was supposed to be an anniversary release celebrating 20 years similiar to what they released for the 5th, 10th and most recently 15th anniversary - and similar to what TDR released for the anniversary of their parks (which also center these anniversary CDs around entertainment music).

However, I think it is disappointing that they went back from a 2CD set for the 15th anniversary to a one CD release for the 20th - even so more unreleased material has accumulated in the meantime (TDR for the recent anniversary of TDS even did a 3 CD set). Maybe they should have considered releasing the CD as now released as a general release and a 2 CD set for the fans (as TDR did for the recent anniversary of TDS, just that it was a 3 CD then). Heck, they could have even played the same trick on fans and collectors as TDR did with the TDS anniversary releases: including one track on the regular 1 CD version of the album which is not included on the 3 CD version so that collectors will consider buying both.

A  2CD set would have allowed DLP also to include more material and in particular more so far unavailable or at least no longer available material. Considering the very few releases even of entertainment music between the 15th and the 20th anniversary there is plenty of "new" material they could have included (music from the character train, the various Central Plaza stage shows, the first and / or second version of Stars'n'Cars, Snow White Happening, Mary Poppins Happening, ...). Going back into the time before the 15th anniversary there is also still quite a bit of music material from entertainment that was never released (e.g. the Beauty and the Beast Happening, Aladdin Calvacade, Pocahontas show, ...). But hey, there is the 25th anniversary where they get their next opportunity.

Finally a question for those of you who already got the new CD (I plan on picking my up this weekend): are the tracks "Moon" and "Moon (reprise)" from "Rock Shock" previously unreleased tracks or are they identical with / were they part of the track "Rock Shock" running 6:35 from the 10th anniversary CD??
